Pusat Standard dan Akreditasi Brunei Darussalam (PSABD) of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, conducted
a Standards Awareness Workshop focusing on two key international standards, namely ISO 45001:2018 –
Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, and ISO 14064 – Greenhouse Gas Emissions and
Removals on 23rd June 2025. The workshop, held at the Main Auditorium at the D&T Building in Kg Anggrek
Desa, brought together participants from government agencies, private enterprises, and academic institutions,
with the aim of promoting best practices in safety management and environmental accountability.
The workshops were officiated by Yang Mulia Dk Hjh Nadiah Annasyitah binti Pg DP Hj Abu Bakar, Acting
Director of PSABD. In her opening remarks, she underscored the importance of international standards as
foundational tools for building a safer, healthier, and more sustainable organisations and the nation as a
whole. She described the workshop as part of a broader effort to raise national awareness, build institutional
capabilities, and support the aspirations outlined in Wawasan Brunei 2035 and Brunei Darussalam Economic
Blueprint.
The two workshops were facilitated by Ms. Roslaini Khaidir, General Manager at AJA EQS Certification. The
morning session focused on ISO 45001:2018, a standard developed to improve workplace safety and reduce
occupational risks. Participants explored how the standard enables organisations to proactively identify
hazards, mitigate risks, and foster a strong safety culture across all levels—from management to front-line
staff.
Meanwhile, the afternoon session transitioned to the theme of climate responsibility, with the introduction of
ISO 14064, a vital standard for organizations looking to measure and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions,
which aligns closely with national objectives under the Brunei National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP). During
the afternoon session, participants were introduced to practical methods of quantifying and verifying emissions
and removals, supporting transparency and building the foundation for low-carbon strategies.
PSABD remains committed to promoting a culture of quality and excellence in Brunei Darussalam. Throughout
the workshops, the connection between standards, productivity, and sustainability was emphasized. These
international frameworks were presented not just as compliance tools, but as strategic enablers for innovation,
operational efficiency, and long-term resilience.
