The total trade for March 2025 grew by 12.3 per cent to BND2,015.0 million, compared
to February 2025. This was primarily driven by the rise in exports by 11.1 per cent,
valued at BND1,255.0 million as well as the growth in imports by 14.4 per cent,
amounting to BND760.0 million.
The major contributors to the export value were Mineral Fuels accounting for 77.5 per
cent, followed by Chemicals at 20.3 per cent, and Machinery and Transport Equipment
at 1.1 per cent.

The main export markets were the People’s Republic of China accounting for 20.0 per
cent, followed by Australia and Japan at 15.4 per cent and 14.2 per cent, respectively.
The largest export commodities to these countries were Mineral Fuels and Chemicals.

Meanwhile, imports in March 2025 were valued at BND760.0 million. The three main
import commodities were Mineral Fuels, accounting for 67.5 per cent, followed by
Machinery and Transport Equipment at 9.4 per cent, and Food at 8.4 per cent.

The largest import partners were Malaysia, accounting for 27.3 per cent, followed by
Nigeria at 14.0 per cent, and Papua New Guinea at 9.0 per cent. The main import
commodities from these trading partners were Mineral Fuels, Food as well as
Chemicals.
Compared to February 2025, the trade balance in March 2025 rose by 6.3 per cent,
primarily due to an 11.1 percent rise in exports.
The imports for end use categories were mainly used as Intermediate Goods processing
accounting for 59.5 per cent, followed by Capital Goods for business operations at 36.9
per cent, and Consumption Goods for household use at 3.6 per cent.
