Dr Hajah May Fa'ezah is currently the Permanent Secretary (Economy, Trade and Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE), Brunei Darussalam.
She pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and English Language in 1998 at the University of Brunei Darussalam, where she excelled at the top of her class with First Class Honours. Continuing her studies at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom in 2000, she was awarded a Master of Science (MSc) in Economics before gaining her PhD in Economics from the University of Kent in Canterbury, United Kingdom in 2009.
Dr Hajah May Fa'ezah began her service with the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in 1998 as a Lecturer in Economics at University of Brunei Darussalam before joining the Department of Economic Planning and Development as a Senior Economic Officer in 2002.
In 2011, she was appointed as a Director General, Department of Economic Planning and Development. On 1st November 2014, Dr Hajah May Fa'ezah became a Senior Advisor to the Executive Director for the South East Asia Voting Group at the International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C.
Thereafter, Dr Hajah May Fa'ezah was appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary (Economy and Finance) at the Prime Minister's Office in 2015 and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Performance and Compliance) at the Ministry of Finance in April 2017.
On 20th September 2018, she was promoted as Permanent Secretary (Economy) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. Her current portfolio includes economic planning, international trade, industrial development, and research at MOFE.
She is married and blessed with three children.
