Government, citizens obliged to protect valuable assets under ‘Maqasid Syariah’


DIRECTOR of the Core Knowledge Centre of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar highlighted the role and responsibility of the government in preserving the five important assets (Maqasid Syariah) of religion, life, intellect, property and lineage, during the weekly pre-dawn talk at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

“Safeguarding our national security from cross-border crimes, such as smuggling, is part of fulfilling the requirements under Maqasid Syariah,” he said in his talk, ‘Smuggling Issues and the Role of the Public in Preserving the Nation’s Security’. “In serving Maqasid Syariah, the public is also responsible in assisting the government in safeguarding our national security from all crimes that may affect and undermine our peace, harmony and security,” he added.

Among those attending the talk were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the PMO and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dr Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary (Investment) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Permanent Secretary (Corporate Affairs and Public Administration) at the PMO Haji Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang.
