Unemployment Rate Decreased to 4.8 Per Cent

The Labour Force Survey (LFS) 2024 reports that Brunei Darussalam’s working age population aged 15 years and over stands at 346,800 persons. Of these, 64 per cent (233,800 persons) participate in the labour force while the remaining 36 per cent (131,000 persons) are outside labour force.

Tahlil Ceremony at the Royal Mausoleum for Male Officers and Staff of the Ministry of Finance and Economy and its Departments in Conjunction with Ramadhan 1445H/2025M

The Ministry of Finance and Economy and its departments held a Tahlil Ceremony for the late Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the late Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Damit, and the late His Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim in conjunction with Ramadhan 1446 Hijrah / 2025 Masihi. The ceremony took place at the Royal Mausoleum, Jalan Tutong, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Brunei Darussalam's Economy Grew 4.2 Per Cent in 2024

In 2024, Brunei Darussalam’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at constant prices, grew at 4.2 per cent year-on-year, driven by a 5.5 per cent expansion in the Oil and Gas Sector and a 3.1 per cent growth in the Non-oil and Gas Sector.

The 47th Meeting of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration

Yang Mulia Dr Hajah May Fae’zah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary (Economy, Trade and Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy attended the 47th Meeting of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI) in Desaru, Malaysia on 24th and 25th February 2025. The Meeting was chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Hairil Yahri Yaacob, Secretary-General, Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Malaysia. 


3 Warning Notices and 1 Seizure Notices were issued during the monthly joint operation DEPS and SDT

The recent joint operation between the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS) and the Weights and Measures Unit (SDT), two (2) business premises were found to be infringing the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 and its regulations for selling price-controlled cooking oil and formulated powdered infant milk above the set maximum price as well as failing to display prices on some items sold in the business premises. Three (3) Warning Notices were issued for these infringements.

Temporary Closure of Petrol Stations for the Inspection And Verification of Fuel Dispensing Pumps for the Month of March 2025

Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) through Weights and Measures Unit (SDT) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy will carry out the verification of accuracy readings on fuel dispensing pumps at various fuel stations in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act 1983 Chapter 151. Whereby, the stipulated guidelines under the Act require all weighing and measuring machines used for trading purposes to be checked for their accuracy and validity, and whether the machines have already been registered with the SDT Unit.

Total Trade Grew by 3.4 Per Cent Month-on-Month

The total trade for December 2024 grew by 3.4 per cent to BND1,942.0 million, compared to November 2024. This growth was contributed by exports valued at BND1,155.4 million and imports amounting to BND786.6 million.
